Minecraft releases free educational content for families quarantined by coronavirus

Microsoft has released new content for the game Minecraft: Education Edition so that people in confinement by the coronavirus can venture into digital worlds instead of the real world, offering children leisure with educational information.

“If you go to Minecraft Marketplace, you’ll find some of our favorite Minecraft: Education Edition lessons in a new Education category. These educational worlds can be played on their own, with your children, parents or friends. In the comfort of your home, you can visit the International Space Station or even explore the interior of a human eye ”, informs the company on the block games website.

Ten worlds from the community of creators were also released to the public in the game marketplace, developed by players Everbloom, Jigarbov, Lifeboat, Razzleberries, The World Foundry, Blockworks and Imagiverse in which it is possible to explore renewable energy, marine biology, Greek history and other information . The worlds include lesson plans, creative writing activities, creating challenges and complex puzzles.

The worlds are being released today and can be downloaded for free until June 30, 2020. Minecraft is available on Android and iOS, Kindle Fire, Windows 10 PC, Gear VR, Oculus Rift, Fire TV, Xbox One, Windows MR, Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4.

Information on the possibilities of distance learning with Minecraft: Education Edition is available on the game's blog and the complete list of content for the game can be accessed on the marketplace page.
